Audiences have been showering a new period drama inspired by a beloved novel with praise after streaming the entire series.
The Other Bennet Sister is a television adaptation of Janice Hadlow’s best-selling book, streaming on Amazon Prime Video, serving as a reimagining of Jane Austen’s timeless Pride and Prejudice. Rather than spotlighting Elizabeth and Jane Bennet, this 10-episode series follows Mary Bennet, who matured labeled as the unassuming, bookish sibling within a household of outgoing personalities.
The narrative traces Mary’s path toward self-realization following her father’s unexpected passing. Leading character Mary is brought to life by Call The Midwife and Bridgerton actress Ella Bruccoleri, while the production boasts an impressive ensemble including Richard E. Grant as Mr. Bennet and Ruth Jones as her domineering mother, Mrs. Bennet.
“Everyone across the board was perfectly cast in the show,” Ella shared with the BBC regarding the casting choices, reports the Express. “It just makes your job really easy because you’re playing across from people that are not only really good but who inhabit their characters very fully”.
The production has achieved a 97 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and has been proclaimed superior to Pride and Prejudice. One viewer wrote: “This show is a masterpiece.
