Scotty McCreery gave fans an unforgettable surprise during his recent concert in Oklahoma City when he invited his three year old son, Avery, to join him onstage for a very special moment.
McCreery was performing at the Paycom Center on Saturday, August 8, where he opened for Cody Johnson. During his set, the country star performed several of his popular songs, including his 2023 hit “Cab in a Solo.”
The song, written by McCreery, Brent Anderson, and Frank Rogers, became a major success after its release. It reached No. 2 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and also topped the US Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart.
But near the end of the song, McCreery had something extra special planned.
As he continued singing, the country star brought Avery onto the stage. The little boy quickly became the center of attention, looking adorable in denim overalls and oversized hearing protection earmuffs.
Fan videos from the concert captured the heartwarming scene. McCreery knelt beside his son while continuing to perform, then encouraged Avery to wave to the cheering crowd.
The proud dad soon turned toward his son and asked if he wanted to sing.
Avery nodded, and McCreery handed him the microphone. The three year old then confidently sang the final line of the song as the audience erupted in cheers.
It was a short moment, but clearly one that meant a lot to both father and son.

The special moment with Avery comes during an important year for McCreery.
The singer recently celebrated 15 years since winning American Idol, a milestone that helped launch his country music career. To mark the occasion, he released a retrospective album titled 15 on July 17.
The project looks back at some of the biggest songs from his career while also giving fans new music.
The album features nine previously released tracks, including “Cab in a Solo,” along with a new song called “Been a Good Run.” McCreery co wrote the track with Rodney Clawson, Monty Criswell, and Derek George.
The record also includes three special covers. McCreery reunited with Josh Turner for a new version of “Your Man,” the song he performed during his American Idol audition 15 years ago. He also recorded his own versions of Conway Twitty’s “Hello Darlin’” and Kris Kristofferson’s “Why Me, Lord.”
With a major career milestone behind him and two young sons by his side, McCreery appears to have plenty of reasons to celebrate.
And after seeing Avery confidently take the microphone in front of thousands of fans, some may already be wondering if the youngest McCreery could one day follow his dad into music.
