This Case Never Really Went Away… Netflix’s Chilling New 3-Part True-Crime Documentary Revisits A Mysterious Death That Captured National Attention — With Never-Before-Seen Footage And Loved Ones Speaking Out For The First Time.

When the body of Mica Miller was found at a North Carolina state park on April 27, 2024, her death was promptly ruled a suicide. But the case drew national attention after evidence surfaced that Mica, wife of John-Paul Miller, the pastor of her family’s church in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, had claimed to be the victim in a stalking plot — even telling police officers she was “afraid for her life” a month before her death.

Now, a new three-part documentary series chronicles the events leading up to Mica’s sudden and mysterious death and the fight for answers that continues today. Premiering on Aug. 26, Death of the Pastor’s Wife features never-before-seen footage and direct accounts from friends and family speaking out for the first time.

The series is directed by Julia Willoughby Nason and Mike Gasparro (Murdaugh Murders, American Murder: Gabby Petito). Executive producers are Tom Cappello, Alana Goldstein, and Keely Walker Muse (Crazy Legs Productions); Nason and Gasparro (The Cinemart); and Yotam Guendelman (Silvio Productions).

“What stayed with us about Mica’s story was how hard she seemed to be fighting to be heard,” Nason and Gasparro say. “We felt it was important to look closely at what she was experiencing and give the people who loved her the space to tell the story of the woman they knew. We made this series to ask difficult questions, listen closely to Mica’s own voice, and make sure that what she was trying to say is not forgotten.”

“Although we never met Mica, the time we spent with her family and friends allowed us to feel her warmth and heart as a human who endured unspeakable pain,” Goldstein says. “Our goal at Crazy Legs is to tell a deeply personal portrait of Mica — honoring her voice, uncovering the realities of emotional abuse and coercive control, and remembering her for the light she shared with the world through her faith.”
