Keith Urban and Post Malone Join Forces for Electrifying Elvis Presley Classic

Keith Urban and Post Malone may come from very different corners of the music world, but when the two stars shared a stage for an Elvis Presley tribute, their unlikely pairing delivered one of the evening’s most memorable performances.
The musicians teamed up for a spirited rendition of “Baby, What You Want Me to Do” during NBC’s Elvis All-Star Tribute in 2019, combining guitars, harmonies and plenty of Elvis-inspired style to celebrate the enduring legacy of the King of Rock & Roll.
An All-Star Celebration of Elvis Presley

The 2019 television special brought together major artists from across several genres to honor Presley and his extraordinary catalog.
Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, Little Big Town and Darius Rucker were among the performers who participated, alongside Post Malone and numerous other stars.
Inspired by Elvis’ famous 1968 television special, the production gave the participating artists an opportunity to revisit his music while bringing their own individual styles to the performances.
For Urban and Malone, that meant taking on “Baby, What You Want Me to Do.”
Keith Urban and Post Malone Bring Their Guitars to an Elvis Favorite
The collaboration immediately stood out because of the two performers involved.
Urban arrived wearing a sparkling grey-and-black suit jacket, while Malone embraced an equally bold look with a bright yellow suit and silver cowboy boots — both outfits reflecting the flamboyant fashion long associated with Elvis.
With guitars in hand and a jazz band supporting them, the pair launched into the song with plenty of energy. Their voices came together in harmony as they put their own stamp on the number while keeping the performance rooted in the music they were there to celebrate.
It was an intriguing meeting of musical worlds: an established country star sharing the spotlight with an artist who, at that point, was primarily known for music outside the country genre.
Years later, that detail would make the performance even more interesting to revisit.
Post Malone Eventually Makes His Country Move
Long before releasing a full country project, Malone had openly demonstrated his appreciation for the genre, including sharing covers of country songs he admired.
That connection became a much bigger part of his career in May 2024, when he released “I Had Some Help” with country superstar Morgan Wallen.
Later that year, in September, Malone released his debut country album, F-1 Trillion, and embarked on a tour of the same name. The project featured collaborations with prominent country artists including Blake Shelton, Luke Combs and Chris Stapleton.
That later chapter gives his 2019 appearance beside Urban a different perspective. Years before Malone officially made his major move into country music, he was already standing alongside one of the genre’s biggest stars, guitar in hand, celebrating the music of Elvis Presley.
And for one performance, Keith Urban and Post Malone proved that their very different musical backgrounds could meet comfortably in the middle — with an Elvis classic providing the perfect common ground.
