Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s surprise decision to return to the UK has raised plenty of questions, but former royal butler Grant Harrold believes there could be a deeply personal reason behind the move.

Appearing on GB News, Harrold suggested that Harry’s concerns about his father, King Charles, who is living with cancer, may have influenced the decision.

Speaking to Breakfast hosts Stephen Dixon and Ellie Costello, Harrold admitted that the speed of the announcement caught him off guard.

“I didn’t see this coming,” he said, explaining that he had always believed Harry would eventually return to Britain, whether Meghan accompanied him or not.

What surprised him most was how quickly it happened.

Harrold said the move appeared to have been planned in advance, pointing out that Harry had already visited the school his children are expected to attend while he was in the UK.
