Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell Share Romantic St Barths Getaway After His New Music Announcement

Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy Shevell have been enjoying some downtime together in St Barths, where the longtime couple were photographed swimming, embracing and sharing a kiss during a sun-soaked beach outing.

The romantic escape comes during an eventful period for the former Beatles star, who recently announced his first album in five years and released a new single this month.

McCartney headed into the water wearing a waterproof top with navy shorts, while Shevell opted for a coordinating zip-up waterproof vest and brown bikini bottoms. She completed her beach look with a wide-brimmed white sunhat and black sunglasses.

During their time in the ocean, the couple were seen affectionately embracing before sharing a kiss.

McCartney and Shevell have now been together for nearly two decades, having first met in 2007 and married four years later.

Their latest getaway follows McCartney’s announcement of The Boys of Dungeon Lane, a 14-track album that looks back at his formative years in Liverpool.

The project revisits memories from long before Beatlemania, including his early experiences with late Beatles bandmates John Lennon and George Harrison.

Reflecting on how frequently his songwriting returns to the past, McCartney said: “I was thinking just that, about the days I left behind and I do often wonder if I’m just writing about the past but then I think, how can you write about anything else?”

He described the record as containing “a lot of memories of Liverpool,” recalling a childhood in which his family did not have much materially.

“We didn’t have much at all but it didn’t matter because all the people were great and you didn’t notice you didn’t have much,” he said.

McCartney and Shevell first crossed paths in 2007. Their relationship came after McCartney endured the loss of his first wife, Linda McCartney, and later the end of his second marriage to Heather Mills.

The couple eventually married on October 9, 2011, choosing an intimate ceremony at Old Marylebone Town Hall in London.

Years into their marriage, McCartney has spoken openly about the effort he makes to keep romance alive.

Writing on his website, the musician described himself as a “considerate and romantic” husband and revealed that he enjoys making occasions such as Christmas and Valentine’s Day particularly special.

“If there’s an excuse to have some fun, I overdo it!” he wrote. “At Christmas, I go crazy with the tree lights and fairy lights — totally overdo it.”

But for McCartney, being a good husband is about more than romantic gestures. He has also spoken about wanting to be someone Shevell can depend upon when life becomes difficult.

“If there’s a problem, I like to be the guy that will lend some strength to it,” he explained. “I’m always very happy to be the person Nancy relies on, and to be her strength when she goes through tough times.”

McCartney said he takes pride in fulfilling that role in their relationship, combining emotional support with romance.

“I am very proud, in fact, to be ‘The Guy’ there. And I know she is grateful,” he wrote. “So, that’s my role as a husband: it’s to be the strength and the romance at the same time.”

Fifteen years after their wedding, the affectionate scenes from St Barths offered another glimpse of the relationship McCartney has described so warmly over the years.
