Rather than describing glamorous nights out or celebrity-filled gatherings, McCartney revealed that some of their happiest moments involve cooking, talking, watching television and ending the evening side by side — with Paul usually disappearing into a book while Nancy finishes whatever series has captured her attention.
“We’re pretty much like any other normal couple!” McCartney said.

“We chat and catch up with each other. We eat lunch or dinner. Well, any meal really, as we love cooking,” he explained.

“Sometimes we will watch something on TV together, and I always read before bed, usually a biography, while Nancy finishes watching a series,” McCartney revealed.

The quiet domestic picture fits with other comments McCartney has made about his marriage.
In 2023, he revealed that Valentine’s Day at the McCartney household can become considerably more elaborate.
Rather than settling for a single card, McCartney said he likes turning the occasion into something of an event.
“There’s not just one card, there are cards hidden around the room, and sometimes things even spill into the next day — it’s completely silly,” he said.
That enthusiasm is not limited to Valentine’s Day.
McCartney has admitted that Christmas provides another excuse for him to go overboard.
“If there’s an excuse to have some fun, I overdo it!” he wrote. “At Christmas, I go crazy with the tree lights and fairy lights — totally overdo it.”
Behind the rock legend who helped transform popular music, then, is apparently someone who still gets excited about hiding Valentine’s cards and covering the house in Christmas lights.
How McCartney sees his role as Nancy’s husband
McCartney has also spoken about the more serious side of their relationship and the kind of husband he wants to be.
For him, marriage involves being someone Shevell can depend upon when circumstances become difficult.
He has said that he wants to “be helpful as a husband.”
“If there’s a problem, I like to be the guy that will lend some strength to it,” McCartney explained.
That sense of responsibility appears particularly important to him.
“I’m always very happy to be the person Nancy relies on, and to be her strength when she goes through tough times,” he added.
His comments offer a different perspective on a relationship the couple has generally kept relatively private despite McCartney’s enormous celebrity.
Paul and Nancy’s relationship began in 2007
McCartney and Shevell met in 2007 and married four years later, in 2011.
Shevell became McCartney’s third wife.
His first marriage was to Linda Eastman, whom he married in 1969. Their marriage lasted until Linda’s death in 1998.
McCartney subsequently married Heather Mills in 2002. Their marriage ended in 2008.
With Shevell, however, McCartney has largely maintained a quieter public approach to his personal life.
The pair are occasionally photographed together at major events, including fashion shows connected to McCartney’s daughter Stella, but McCartney’s comments reveal that their everyday relationship is considerably less glamorous than their public appearances might suggest.
