Prince Harry has reportedly embraced a new four-word description of his role — but the label has already triggered a fierce reaction from some royal fans.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced earlier this month that they were moving back to the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The family arrived in Birmingham on Wednesday, August 26, travelling by private jet from California.

It is thought Harry and Meghan could establish their new life in the Cotswolds, with their children attending schools in the area. Meghan has also reportedly been considering a return to acting after stepping away from the profession in 2017, shortly before marrying Harry.

Now, Harry appears to have offered a glimpse into how his own role could look in Britain.

According to The Times, the Duke has described himself as a “full-time dad”.

Harry’s new role

Harry made the comment during an appearance on rugby star Joe Marler’s podcast, Joe Marler Will See You Now, where he described his occupation as “full-time dad”.

The description quickly caught the attention of royal fans, with some questioning whether the title accurately reflects Harry’s day-to-day life.

One critic on X wrote: “‘Staying at home dad’? You still have nannies, housekeepers, chefs and gardeners. The kids are at school until mid-afternoon. Watching Archie play rugby once a week does not make you a stay-at-home dad.”

Another reacted more bluntly, writing: “Haz a stay home dad — no F****** way…”

The backlash, however, was not universal.

Harry’s work away from home

Other observers pointed out that Harry is still expected to remain involved in several charitable and philanthropic projects.

He continues his work connected to the Invictus Games, the organisation he founded for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women. Harry also founded Travalyst and serves as an ambassador for WellChild and Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

His description of himself as a “full-time dad” therefore does not necessarily mean he intends to abandon those responsibilities.

Instead, it may offer an indication of the importance he places on his role as a father as the family begins another chapter in Britain.

Beyond reports that the family could settle in the Cotswolds, relatively little has been confirmed about their plans.

Harry and Meghan formally stepped back from royal duties after moving to the United States and are not expected to return to official working-royal engagements.

There is also no clear confirmation yet over whether their return to Britain represents a permanent relocation or a temporary stay.
