Netflix’s Caught is winning over viewers with another Harlan Coben mystery
Netflix has added another twist-filled Harlan Coben thriller to its growing collection, and early viewers are already praising Caught as one of the streaming service’s latest binge-worthy mysteries.
The six-episode Argentine series arrived on Netflix on March 26, 2025, marking the first Latin American screen adaptation of one of Coben’s novels. Filmed in the dramatic landscapes of Patagonia, the series stars Soledad Villamil, Juan Minujín and Alberto Ammann.
Cought is based on Coben’s novel of the same name and follows a journalist whose latest investigation pulls her into a mystery that becomes increasingly personal.
What is Caught about?
The story is set in San Carlos de Bariloche, a city in Argentina’s Patagonia region.
At the center of the thriller is Ema Garay, played by Soledad Villamil, a respected journalist who has built her reputation through digital media by exposing criminals who have managed to evade justice.
Her work takes a disturbing turn when a 16-year-old girl disappears.
Ema’s investigation leads her to Leo Mercer, a respected member of the local community who quickly becomes the prime suspect. As Ema digs deeper into the disappearance, the case begins to uncover secrets that force her to confront painful parts of her own past.
Netflix describes the series as a gritty, slow-burning mystery combining journalism, investigation and crime drama. The six episodes range from roughly 44 to 62 minutes.
The cast is led by Villamil alongside Alberto Ammann and Juan Minujín, with Matías Recalt, Carmela Rivero, Fernán Mirás and Mike Amigorena also appearing. Rivero makes her introduction in the series as Martina, the teenage girl at the center of the investigation.

Viewers are already calling it a must-watch
The reaction to Caught has built steadily on social media, with viewers praising its cast, mystery and succession of twists.
One viewer described the series as “honestly brilliant” after watching five episodes, praising the cast and the story while calling it another Harlan Coben success on Netflix.
Another viewer posted after finishing the series: “Just finished #Caught on Netflix. Well done @HarlanCoben.”
A third viewer called the show “fantastic” and “really gripping”, adding that the twists made it an easy binge-watch.
The reaction became particularly enthusiastic around the fourth episode, with one viewer describing its ending as a “BOOM” moment and saying they were left completely stunned.
That kind of response fits the formula Coben has become known for on Netflix. His previous adaptations include Fool Me Once, The Stranger, Safe, The Innocent, Stay Close, The Woods, Gone for Good and Hold Tight. Netflix says Coben has sold more than 85 million books worldwide, with his novels published in 46 languages.
Why Argentina was the perfect setting
Cought also represents an important step in Coben’s partnership with Netflix.
The series was filmed in and around Bariloche, with the surrounding Patagonian landscape providing a striking backdrop for the story. Netflix described the production as Coben’s first adaptation produced in Latin America.
Coben previously explained why the location appealed to him, telling Variety that Bariloche offered both remarkable beauty and a feeling of isolation that worked particularly well for a thriller.
The series was produced by Vanessa Ragone of Haddock Films, the Argentine production company behind The Secret in Their Eyes, which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2010.
Miguel Cohan serves as showrunner, with Cohan and Hernán Goldfrid directing. The scripts were written by Miguel Cohan, Ana Cohan, María Meira and Gonzalo Salaya. Harlan Coben and Vanessa Ragone serve as executive producers.
Coben’s Netflix universe keeps expanding
When Caught premiered in March 2025, it joined an increasingly international collection of Netflix adaptations based on Coben’s work.
The author has worked with local creative teams to adapt his novels in different countries and languages, while retaining the mysteries, disappearances and reversals that have become hallmarks of his stories.
Since Caught was announced, that partnership has continued to expand.
Run Away, another Coben adaptation starring James Nesbitt, Ruth Jones, Minnie Driver and Alfred Enoch, premiered on Netflix on January 1, 2026. The eight-episode thriller follows Simon Greene after his daughter Paige disappears, sending him into a search that becomes entangled with a murder investigation and long-hidden family secrets.
Coben’s first US scripted series for Netflix, I Will Find You, has also since arrived. The eight-episode thriller stars Sam Worthington, Britt Lower and Milo Ventimiglia. Worthington plays David Burroughs, a man serving a life sentence for the murder of his son who receives evidence suggesting that the boy may still be alive.
For fans who enjoy Coben’s trademark mysteries, Caught offers another story built around a disappearance, a seemingly respectable suspect and a journalist determined to uncover what really happened.
With its Argentine setting, international cast and tightly contained six-episode story, it is an especially easy series to add to a weekend binge.
