Meghan Markle’s New Archie And Lilibet Video Has Raised An Awkward Question — And It Goes Beyond Privacy

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have only been back in Britain for a matter of weeks, yet their approach to privacy has already become a source of renewed debate.

The latest flashpoint is a seemingly innocent family video shared by Meghan, featuring moments with Archie and Lilibet as the Sussexes settle into their new life in the UK.

On its own, there is nothing particularly remarkable about the footage. But its timing has made it difficult to ignore the contradiction critics believe they see.

The Privacy Question

For years, Harry and Meghan have been vocal about their desire for greater privacy, particularly when it comes to their children.

During their time in the US, they largely kept Archie and Lilibet away from public view, a decision that was entirely within their rights as parents.

Lilibet is just five and Archie is seven. Neither child has chosen to live under the glare that comes with being part of the Royal Family.

That is precisely why their latest appearance on Meghan’s Instagram has attracted so much attention.

The footage, shared last weekend, shows the family enjoying what appears to be time in the countryside with their dog. Harry is also seen fishing with the children from a boat on a pond.

The montage begins with Harry and Meghan walking hand in hand, before Meghan turns towards the camera and playfully says: “Come on, you.”

Another clip appears to show Lilibet cycling with a doll in a baby bike seat while Archie runs past her. In another moment, one of the children appears to warm their feet beside a fireplace.

It is warm, domestic footage.

But the controversy is about why it was shared at all.

‘If Privacy Is Genuinely The Priority’

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield was among those to question the decision.

“If privacy is genuinely the priority, the most effective strategy is simple… stop broadcasting your family life to millions of strangers,” she said.

“Every hyper-curated glimpse of the children, the dogs, the countryside, and their domestic routine invites more attention, more questions, and more interest in where and how they are living!”

That criticism has gained extra resonance because of the circumstances surrounding the children’s return to Britain.

Archie and Lilibet recently started at a new school, only to be moved again after two days because of reported concerns surrounding the practicalities of the school run and the family’s security arrangements.

Harry and Meghan have stressed that the decision was about security logistics and was not a criticism of the school.

Yet almost simultaneously, their children were being shown in carefully selected snippets of family life online.

That contrast was always likely to attract scrutiny.

Critics have also pointed back to comments
