PRINCE HARRY AND MEGHAN MARKLE SPEND £36 ON PUB LUNCH — ‘THEY JUST ACTED LIKE LOCALS’ AS SUSSEXES SETTLE INTO COTSWOLDS LIFE
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have taken a distinctly low-key approach to their new life in the Cotswolds, sitting down for a £36 pub lunch while their children were at school.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were spotted holding hands as they arrived at The Falkland Arms, a historic 16th-century pub in the Oxfordshire village of Great Tew.
The relaxed outing marked their first joint public appearance in Britain since returning from the United States at the end of the summer.
With Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, at school, the couple had some time to themselves — and opted for traditional pub food rather than anything particularly extravagant.

Meghan chose gluten-free beer-battered haddock and chips, while Harry ordered chicken, ham and leek pie.
‘THEY JUST ACTED LIKE LOCALS’
Despite their status, the couple reportedly attracted little fuss inside the traditional pub.
A member of staff told The Sun: “Everyone here gets the royal treatment; it doesn’t matter who you are.”
The worker added that Harry and Meghan “just acted like locals” during their visit.
“We’re a proper traditional English pub with black Labradors, but our ale is served cold. We have folk nights and Sunday roasts,” they said.
The pub itself is only a short distance from Soho Farmhouse, where Meghan, 45, is reportedly already attending Pilates sessions.
The Falkland Arms has even received a pop-culture mention in MobLand, with Pierce Brosnan’s character Conrad Harrigan praising the pub’s beer.

A VERY CASUAL SUSSEX LOOK
Harry and Meghan kept their appearance deliberately casual.
Both wore sunglasses, with Meghan opting for an all-black outfit paired with white shoes.
Harry, meanwhile, wore a Santa Barbara Fire Department cap — a small nod to the California community near Montecito where the couple previously lived.
The choice offered a reminder of the life they have left behind even as they begin establishing a new routine in Britain.
MEGHAN HAD ALREADY BEEN EXPLORING THE AREA

The pub was not entirely unfamiliar territory for Meghan.
The Duchess had reportedly visited The Falkland Arms the previous week with close friend Kelly McKee Zajfen and her young son.
She was also spotted at The Three Horseshoes in Asthall, around 16 miles away, alongside chat-show host Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi.
Harry, meanwhile, has maintained a much busier public schedule since the family’s return.
He has attended the WellChild Awards, the Invictus Spirit Gala Dinner and Awards, and a black-tie event supporting Ukraine, before briefly travelling back to the United States for engagements in New York.
SECURITY CONCERNS FOLLOW THE FAMILY
The couple’s quieter Cotswolds routine has unfolded against the backdrop of their continuing dispute over security arrangements.
Those concerns were brought back into focus after two men, reportedly working for a European photography agency, were said to have been seen in a white van outside Archie and Lilibet’s school.
For now, however, Harry and Meghan appear to be finding their own rhythm in the countryside — with school runs, work commitments and the occasional £36 pub lunch offering a glimpse of a very different kind of Sussex life in Britain.
