The wait is almost over as Casualty prepares to mark its 40th anniversary on screen with a special double-bill episode. While fans have already caught a brief glimpse of what lies ahead in an earlier preview, the BBC medical drama has now unveiled an extended, action-packed trailer.
The footage reveals St James’ Hospital as the scene of a massive explosion that plunges Holby into complete turmoil. With numerous civilians caught up in the blast, the trailer depicts scores of injured people being rushed into the hospital on stretchers in desperate need of treatment.
One striking close-up captures Dylan Keogh (played by William Beck) breaking down in tears, while another shot shows him standing outside the hospital as police officers close in on him, reports Wales Online.
Elsewhere in the trailer, Flynn (Olly Rix) and Stevie (Elinor Lawless) are seen being flung around inside an ambulance, apparently facing grave danger of their own.
It did not take long for viewers to react to the footage, with many voicing their opinions on the much-anticipated rumoured return of Charlie Fairhead and whether it could end in heartbreak.
One viewer wrote: “That is definitely Charlie on the stretcher looking away.” Another asked: “Did I see Charlie with the mask on?”

A third fan chipped in: “Stevie falling in the ambulance. Don’t be injured, pleaseeee. Just get Flynn to kiss it better for you! ! Someone is dying, my odds are on Charlie or, sadly, Indie.”
Another viewer fearing for Indie’s fate wrote: “INDIE’S FACE BLEEDING AT 0:22 and she’s definitely going into the water I can’t cope with this wait anymore.” A further fan simply declared: “I don’t think I’m ready for this.”
A synopsis for the forthcoming two episodes states: “It is revealed that St James’ Hospital is the site of a major explosion that has thrown Holby into chaos.
