Harlan Coben’s Netflix Hit I Will Find You Is Still Dominating the Streaming Charts
Two months after its Netflix debut, I Will Find You is still attracting a huge audience worldwide, adding another major success to Harlan Coben’s long-running relationship with the streamer.
The eight-episode mystery limited series premiered on June 18 and has now become one of Netflix’s ten most-watched English-language original scripted series of all time. Its rise has been strong enough to push Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson’s thriller His & Hers out of the top ten.
The achievement gives Coben another significant streaming hit, continuing a partnership with Netflix that has produced a string of successful adaptations.
Harlan Coben and Netflix Have Built a Winning Partnership
Coben’s books have been adapted for Netflix 13 times, with titles including Stay Close, The Stranger, Fool Me Once, and the more recent Missing You. The adaptations have consistently attracted large audiences, helping establish Coben as one of the streamer’s most reliable sources for mystery and thriller programming.
His relationship with Netflix dates back to 2018, when the author signed a multi-million-dollar, five-year overall deal with the company.
That partnership continued to pay off in 2026. Missing You, which arrived on January 1, became another major success, collecting 21.7 million views during its first week. Its audience then climbed to 36.9 million views the following week.
I Will Find You Brings Sam Worthington and Britt Lower Into Coben’s World
The latest adaptation is based on Coben’s 2023 bestseller I Will Find You. Rather than relying on the familiar British television stars who have appeared in several of his previous adaptations, the series features Avatar star Sam Worthington and Severance favorite Britt Lower in its leading roles.
Worthington plays David Burroughs, a man who has spent five years in prison after being wrongly convicted of murdering his son. When evidence emerges suggesting that the boy may actually still be alive, David begins a desperate search for the truth.
Lower plays Rachel, the sister of David’s former wife, who joins him as the mystery surrounding his son’s disappearance begins to unravel.
The premise gives the series the kind of fast-moving mystery that has become closely associated with Coben’s Netflix adaptations, with David forced to reconsider everything he believed about the events that led to his imprisonment.
Critics Were Less Impressed
While audiences have continued to embrace I Will Find You, the critical response has been considerably more restrained.
The series currently holds a 64% average score on Rotten Tomatoes, reflecting a mixed reception from critics. Some reviewers praised the focus on its characters while arguing that the mystery itself leaned too heavily on familiar genre conventions.
Collider’s Taylor Gates wrote that the series is rooted in its characters and their development, but ultimately suffers from a sense of familiarity created by its reliance on established tropes and archetypes.
ScreenRant’s Cher Thompson similarly found that the rapid pace of the mystery did not always allow its twists and turns to connect as effectively as they should.
Those reviews, however, have done little to slow the show’s momentum on Netflix.
I Will Find You Keeps Finding Viewers
Commercially, I Will Find You has emerged as one of Coben and Netflix’s strongest collaborations yet. Its place among Netflix’s ten most-watched English-language original scripted series of all time puts it in particularly notable company.
Its popularity has also lasted well beyond its initial release. At the time of writing, nearly two months after its June 18 premiere, I Will Find You remains among the ten most-streamed movies on Netflix worldwide.
For Coben, the series represents another impressive result from a partnership that has already delivered 13 adaptations. For Netflix, it is another example of the enduring appeal of the author’s mystery stories, even when critical reactions are mixed.
