Count My Lies: First Look at Lindsay Lohan and Shailene Woodley’s Hulu Drama
Lindsay Lohan is trading romantic comedies for a much darker story.
The actress is set to lead Hulu’s upcoming drama Count My Lies, an adaptation of Sophie Stava’s novel of the same name. The series promises a tense story built around deception, manipulation, and a household filled with secrets, with Shailene Woodley and Kit Harington joining Lohan in the main cast.
The project gives Lohan a chance to take on a very different kind of role. After starring in Netflix romantic comedies such as Irish Wish, she is now playing Violet Lockhart in a series where romance is not at the center of her character’s story.
The show is currently filming and will mark Lohan’s first time leading a scripted television series.
When Will Count My Lies Premiere on Hulu?
Count My Lies is coming to Hulu, although an official release date has not yet been announced.
Production is currently underway, and there is hope that the series could arrive in 2027. Hulu has not confirmed a specific premiere date yet.
Who Stars in Count My Lies?

Lindsay Lohan leads the cast as Violet Lockhart. The series is being written and developed by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, the creative team known for This Is Us.
Lohan has already expressed enthusiasm for the material, particularly because the role gives her an opportunity to move away from the romantic storylines that have defined many of her recent projects.
Speaking to Chloe Fineman for an Elle cover story, Lohan said she loved Stava’s novel but found it stressful enough that she had to stop reading for a day. That tension, she explained, was part of what attracted her to the project.
She also pointed out how unusual the role is for her career. Lohan said she had spoken with the writers and showrunners about the fact that this is the first time she does not have to play a character whose story revolves around having a romantic interest or kissing someone at the end.
The confirmed cast currently includes:
- Lindsay Lohan as Violet Lockhart
- Shailene Woodley as Sloane Caraway
- Kit Harington as Jay Lockhart
- Katherine LaNasa as Tracy
What Is Count My Lies About?

At the center of the story is Sloane Caraway, played by Shailene Woodley.
Sloane is a compulsive liar who sees little white lies as a way to make her otherwise ordinary life more exciting. Her willingness to bend the truth eventually helps her land a job as the nanny for Violet and Jay Lockhart, a wealthy couple who appear to have a perfectly ordered life.
But the polished image of the Lockhart household does not tell the whole story.
Sloane soon discovers that the couple are hiding secrets of their own. As those secrets begin to surface, her habit of lying could leave her trapped in a situation far more dangerous than she expected.
The official synopsis describes Sloane as having entered a household “brimming with secrets that are about to explode — with potentially catastrophic consequences for all.”
That setup puts Sloane in the middle of a complicated web of deception, while leaving viewers to question who can actually be trusted.

According to the Film & Television Industry Alliance, production for Count My Lies is taking place in Los Angeles, California.
The series is currently in production.
Will Count My Lies Be Spicy?
Based on the source material, Count My Lies appears to lean much more heavily into drama, suspense, and psychological tension than explicit romance.
Peanut Blossom Book Club gave the novel a 2 out of 5 on its spice scale. Its assessment notes that intimate acts are briefly described or referenced while past events are recounted, but there are no active intimate scenes beyond some kissing featured in the book.
For the television adaptation, the central focus appears to be the mystery surrounding Sloane, Violet, and Jay, along with the secrets inside the Lockhart household.
With filming underway and the cast now taking shape, Count My Lies is shaping up to be a significant departure from the romantic comedies audiences may associate with Lindsay Lohan. The Hulu drama will put her at the center of a story where deception drives the plot and the line between protagonist and antagonist may not be easy to define.
