A thriller renaissance for Netflix
Netflix has spent years turning Harlan Coben novels into limited series, one self-contained mystery at a time. Now the streamer is changing its playbook. After the strong debut of I Will Find You, which premiered on June 18, 2026 with Sam Worthington, Britt Lower, Milo Ventimiglia and Chi McBride, the platform has greenlit an adaptation of Coben’s Myron Bolitar saga, a property built to run for multiple seasons.
The enduring appeal of Harlan Coben
Coben has long been one of the most reliable names in the thriller genre, and his partnership with Netflix has produced a steady string of hits. Yet none of those projects had the runway of Myron Bolitar. Launched in 1995 with the novel Deal Breaker, the saga now spans 12 books, the most recent published in 2024. That depth gives Netflix something its previous Coben miniseries never offered: a returning hero with years of stories already written.
Bringing Myron Bolitar to the screen
The books follow Myron Bolitar, a former basketball player whose athletic career ended early, pushing him to reinvent himself as an agent for athletes and celebrities. His new job keeps dragging him into blackmail schemes, murders and conspiracies, usually alongside Win Lockwood, an unflappable fixer who has since earned his own standalone novel. Together they form one of crime fiction’s most durable duos.
Behind the camera, Netflix has recruited heavyweight talent. David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies) will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer alongside Kyle Long (Suits), while Greg Yaitanes, known for his work on House of the Dragon, will direct several episodes. In front of it, Colin Woodell takes the lead role of Myron, with KJ Apa (Riverdale) playing Win. Expanding Coben’s reach in streaming
The series also arrives at a moment when Coben’s screen universe is no longer a one-platform affair. Prime Video already adapted the author’s young-adult spin-off as Harlan Coben’s Shelter, a show set in the same fictional world and centered on Myron’s nephew. Netflix, for its part, clearly wants to keep the flagship character in-house, and a franchise with a dozen novels behind it offers plenty of material to defend that turf.
According to Netflix’s current plans, the Myron Bolitar series is targeting a premiere in 2027, which would make it the platform’s first Coben adaptation designed from the start to run beyond a single season.
