A SELF-PROCLAIMED TikTok ‘time traveller’ has claimed that Mexico will win the World Cup – after beating Argentina in the final.
Social media user ‘Tona Multiverso’ says the co-host nation will beat the reigning world champions on penalties following a 1-1 draw.
He claims that Argentina will miss the final spot kick, resulting in Mexico becoming champions.
There is one big issue with his prediction, however.
As things stand, because Mexico have won Group A and Argentina are almost guaranteed to win Group J on Sunday, the two sides could meet in the semi-finals if they both get that far.
That would make it impossible for them to meet in the final.
Argentina captain Lionel Messi currently leads the World Cup Golden Boot race as he looks to guide his nation back to another title.
The 39-year-old has netted five goals in two appearances at the tournament this year.
He broke the record for the most World Cup goals by scoring against Austria on Monday.
Messi then extended that record by making it 2-0 in added time.
Argentina next face Jordan in their final group stage match on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Mexico won all three of their group games, beating South Africa, South Korea and the Czech Republic.
