Prime Video and 5&2 Studios have officially debuted the full trailer for the sixth and penultimate season of Dallas Jenkins’ historical drama The Chosen, offering audiences their most harrowing look yet at the final 24 hours of Jesus of Nazareth (Jonathan Roumie) leading up to the Crucifixion.
The upcoming season—dropping its first three episodes on November 15, 2026 on Prime Video—narrows its focus to the immediate eve and dawn of Jesus’ execution. The narrative tracks the escalating political, military, and spiritual collision through the competing viewpoints of the disciples, religious authorities, and Roman administrators.
The Trailer: Confronting Rome and the Sanhedrin
The footage highlights the intense legal and philosophical interrogations Jesus faces across Jerusalem:
-
Questions of Insurrection: Authorities press Jesus on whether he intends to “bring our people to ruin” or “lead a revolution to overthrow Rome.”
-
The Nature of Power: Challenged on his ultimate objective, Jesus counters the worldly authority of his accusers:“I don’t think we view power in the same way. For this purpose, I was born. And for this purpose I have come into the world — to revere the truth.”
-
The High Priest’s Interrogation: The tension culminates in the Sanhedrin chamber, where Caiaphas and council members demand: “Tell us, are you the Christ, the son of God?”
-
The Official Logline:“Pharisees call it justice. Romans call it peace. Followers call it murder. But in the face of loneliness and death, Jesus stands resolute in his plan that has always led to one place: the cross. The Chosen Season 6 reveals how Jesus’ final hours changed the world forever.”

Beyond ‘Religious Show’ Tropes

Reflecting on the psychological and artistic demands of dramatizing the Passion, Jonathan Roumie addressed why label pigeonholing fails to capture the project’s creative ambitions:
“When you say religious, a gate goes down in people’s minds that have sensitivities to that word — for whatever reason, whatever experience they’ve had — and all of a sudden they will not watch it. So I think it shouldn’t be called that… I think it can be a religious experience for certain people that watch the show, but I wouldn’t call it a religious show by any stretch.”
Following the theatrical conclusion of Season 6 in March 2027, the production will move toward its seventh and final season covering the Resurrection.
