Harry And Meghan Savagely Mocked In SNL Return Sketch — Netflix Fortune Joke Takes Aim At Sussexes’ New Life In Britain
Harry and Meghan have been handed another brutal dose of Saturday Night Live mockery — and this time, their return to Britain became the perfect setup for a joke about money.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were portrayed arriving at Balmoral Castle to see King Charles and Queen Camilla, with actors Jack Shep and Ayoade Bamgboye playing the couple in the Season 2 premiere sketch.
Harry’s first words to his fictional father were simple: “Daddy, I’m home.”
‘Have You Spent All Your Netflix Money?’
The sketch quickly turned its attention to the Sussexes’ lucrative Netflix deal.
King Charles, played by Larry Dean, asked: “Don’t tell me you’ve spent all your Netflix money already.”
Harry then replied: “It was $60 million. How long was it meant to last?”
The exchange was clearly written as a jab at the couple’s commercial deals and their decision to establish a new life away from the Royal Family.
Camilla, played by Emma Sidi, then greeted Meghan with another pointed reference to the couple’s past controversies.
“Hello, sweet Harry,” she said, before adding: “And beautiful Meghan, as brown as ever.”
The line appeared to reference the Sussexes’ explosive 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, during which they claimed a member of the Royal Family had raised concerns about the potential skin colour of their then-unborn child.
Meghan’s Netflix Show Gets A Dig
The sketch also took aim at Meghan’s Netflix lifestyle series With Love, Meghan.
Addressing Camilla, Meghan joked: “Hey Step Queen. I brought you a gift. It’s ice. I made it myself. I can give you the recipe. I’m kind of a wiz in the kitchen.”
Harry then added: “It’s true. She hires the best cooks.”
The exchange turned Meghan’s lifestyle brand into another punchline, with the fictional Sussexes presented as returning to the royal fold with their commercial ventures firmly in the background.
A New Chapter Back In Britain
Away from the comedy sketch, Harry and Meghan have reportedly returned to Britain with their two children, seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet.
The family are understood to have relocated to the Cotswolds, with the children enrolled in a British school as the Sussexes begin life back in the UK after six years away.
Their return has already prompted speculation over why they chose to move back.
Page Six has suggested that money could be “a big” factor, although that remains speculation rather than a confirmed explanation from the couple.
SNL, however, wasted little time turning that speculation into comedy — using the Sussexes’ return to Balmoral as the backdrop for one particularly pointed question about where all that Netflix money went.
