Jos Verstappen has spoken out after reports that he had been taken ill, with a doctored image sparking health concerns on social media.

Jos Verstappen has rubbished suggestions that he had fallen ill following the emergence of a doctored image on social media. Fans of the ex-Formula 1 star expressed their concerns when a photo of his face looking slender and sunken started to do the rounds online, many speculating whether the father of Max Verstappen had taken a turn for the worse.
However, Jos has now alleviated any worries, sharing a photograph on Instagram to explain how he is in good health. Posting a selfie in his car on Monday, the 54-year-old said: “Everything is fine with me. I’m not sick, just having a bad hair day.”
It comes after Jos appeared in a segment for Viaplay over the weekend, with someone taking a screenshot from his interview before manipulating it to make him look unwell. It is unknown as to whether Jos will take action against those who made the fake image.
It comes as former Red Bull principal, Christian Horner, has recently come under fire for controversial claims regarding Jos in his new book. The 52-year-old, who was sacked by Red Bull last summer, released the memoir entitled ‘Drive’ last week.
One such bombshell which is included in the release claims that Red Bull colleague, Helmut Marko, did not want to sign Max to the team as a result of Jos’ actions. As per Horner, Marko had said: “The father’s a nightmare…We don’t need this one.”

In response, Marko has labelled Horner’s book as a “collection of untruths” of “such a low calibre” that he will not publicly address them. And now, Ralf Schumacher has weighed in on the dispute, lambasting Horner for his words while defending Marko.
The F1 analyst for Sky Germany told the Backstage Boxengasse podcast: “That’s an absolute no-go, the story is a complete lie. Allegedly, Marko said that Max’s father, Jos, was a nightmare.
“But the story as I know it goes like this: Helmut Marko approached Max when he was just 11 years old. Jos actually said that it was too early for him. And then the doctor got a little miffed and said, ‘If he doesn’t want me, then so be it.’
