MEGHAN MARKLE’S ‘BIGGEST PROBLEM’ AFTER UK RETURN REVEALED — FORMER FRIEND SAYS EVERYONE ‘HAS AN OPINION’ OF HER

Meghan Markle has remained almost completely out of sight since returning to Britain with Prince Harry — but a former friend believes he has identified the “biggest problem” she now faces in the UK.
While Harry has thrown himself back into public life, appearing at events including the WellChild Awards and continuing preparations for the Invictus Games, Meghan has largely stayed away from the spotlight.
Her first reported public appearance came only days ago, when she joined Harry for a lunch outing.
The Duchess of Sussex’s unusually low profile has already prompted questions over what role she will carve out for herself following the couple’s move back to Britain.
Now PR expert Nick Ede, who says he was once close friends with Meghan before she began dating Harry in 2016, has offered his own assessment.

‘EVERYONE DOES HAVE AN OPINION’
Ede first met Meghan when she came to the UK while starring in Suits.
He helped introduce her to agents and took her to fashion shows, with the pair developing what he described as a close friendship before their relationship eventually cooled.
Speaking on the Vanessa by Royal Appointment podcast with Vanessa Feltz, Ede insisted he was “not bitter” about the way their friendship ended.
But he claimed Meghan’s biggest difficulty in Britain could have little to do with her private life — and everything to do with how the public sees her.
“I understand the game, I understand it extremely well,” Ede said.

“I have lots of friends in Hollywood who tell me lots of horrific stories about Meghan. Some of them I’m sure are true, some of them maybe not.
“But everyone does have an opinion, and that’s going to be her biggest problem.”
The comments come as Meghan begins another attempt to establish herself professionally and socially in Britain, after years of building a life and business interests in California.
HARRY HAS A CLEAR ROLE — BUT WHAT ABOUT MEGHAN?
One of the biggest questions surrounding the Sussexes’ return is what Meghan will actually do next.
Harry already has a number of established commitments, including his work connected to the Invictus Games and various charitable causes.
For Meghan, however, the next step appears less certain.
A possible role in the Netflix series The Gentlemen has been mooted, although nothing has yet materialised.
Ede believes that uncertainty could be part of a much broader problem for Meghan in Britain: people still cannot quite decide where she fits.
‘NO-ONE IN THE UK KNOWS WHAT SHE’S GOOD AT’

According to Ede, Britain’s tendency to define public figures by a particular role could make Meghan’s position especially complicated.
He argued that she has been described in several different ways without settling into one clear professional identity.
“We love to pigeonhole people in the UK especially, and one minute she’s a great mother, one minute she’s an entrepreneur, then you’re a public speaker,” he said.
The PR expert also discussed why he believes their friendship eventually ended.
“No, I’m not friendly with her (anymore),” he said.
“It’s not that we ever fell out, we just went our separate ways. She’s very good at going her separate ways from people.”
Ede suggested Meghan’s growing connection to the Royal Family and his own links to the media may have contributed to the distance between them.
“She went her separate way. I think because I have friends in the media, obviously she’s part of the Royal Family, she decided that wasn’t right,” he said.
He added that Meghan knew he had mutual friends with her and reflected on how relationships can change as people’s circumstances evolve.
“We always say this, there are people more useful to her than I was at the time,” Ede said.
“I did a lot of stuff with her, we were really good friends, we had a lovely relationship.”
CLAIMS OF A COTSWOLDS CELEBRITY SNUB
Ede also made another claim about the Sussexes’ new life in Britain.
He said he had heard that some celebrities living in the Cotswolds had turned down offers to meet Harry and Meghan.
The claim comes as the couple settle into a region already packed with famous residents, where privacy, local relationships and security arrangements have all become subjects of public interest.
It remains unclear whether any specific celebrities declined invitations or why they may have done so.
For Meghan, the bigger question is what happens next.
After spending years establishing a new identity in California, she has returned to a country where she is already one of the most recognisable — and debated — figures in public life.
And according to the former friend who once knew her before the royal spotlight, the challenge may be less about finding something to do and more about convincing Britain exactly who she is.
