MEGHAN MARKLE COULD BE HEADING BACK TO PARIS FASHION WEEK — HER LAST APPEARANCE LEFT BEHIND A TRAIL OF CONTROVERSY

Meghan Markle made an unexpected entrance at Paris Fashion Week last year, arriving in a striking white Balenciaga ensemble and instantly becoming one of the most talked-about figures in the room.
Now, with the Duchess of Sussex back in Europe, attention is turning to whether she could make a return to the French capital in the coming weeks.
And she may already have dropped a subtle hint.
On her As Ever Instagram account, Meghan shared a photograph of one of her branded bookmarks resting on what appeared to be a page from a Paris guidebook — prompting speculation that another fashion-week appearance could be in the works.

Her first Paris Fashion Week outing was anything but ordinary.
Flying solo from Montecito, Meghan appeared in the Balenciaga front row wearing a white suit and dramatic cape designed by Pierpaolo Piccioli, whom she had supported on the occasion.
At the time, her spokesman said the Duchess had worn several of Piccioli’s designs over the years and that the pair had worked closely together on fashion for important moments.
Meghan later confirmed that she had personally reached out to the designer about attending the show.
“I reached out and I said, ‘Happy to come and support you’,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “We kept it a secret, and it was really fun.”

The revelation came after reports had suggested she had been personally invited to the event.
Once inside, Meghan was photographed greeting Vogue editor-in-chief Dame Anna Wintour and chatting with filmmaker Baz Luhrmann.
But several moments from the Paris trip quickly attracted attention.
One was an awkward attempted air kiss with Piccioli. As the pair moved towards each other in front of the cameras, their timing appeared to be slightly off, resulting in an uncomfortable near collision of noses.
Another moment involved a model stumbling on the Balenciaga runway. Meghan appeared in footage that prompted claims she had giggled and covered her mouth.
However, a representative for Meghan later disputed that interpretation, telling Vanity Fair that she had not laughed at the model.
The Balenciaga show also brought renewed scrutiny because of controversy surrounding the fashion house’s past.
The brand had previously apologised and withdrawn a campaign featuring children holding teddy bears dressed in bondage-style accessories.
Then there was Meghan’s own social-media post from Paris.
She shared an image of her feet resting in the back of a limousine, with the vehicle apparently passing two bridges close to the Pont d’Alma tunnel — the location associated with Princess Diana’s fatal 1997 car crash.
The photograph drew criticism from royal commentators and social-media users, who questioned the judgment behind posting an image so close to a place carrying such a painful connection to the Royal Family.
But Vanity Fair later reported that a representative for Meghan clarified that she had not actually been at the bridge.
The trip also reinforced something that has followed Meghan throughout her public life: almost every appearance can become a conversation in its own right.
Whether it is her choice of outfit, the people she meets or a single photograph posted online, the Duchess rarely arrives without attracting scrutiny.
Now, with Meghan back in Europe and her apparent Paris hint already drawing attention, the question is whether she will once again take her place among the fashion world’s biggest names.
If she does return to Paris Fashion Week, one thing seems certain: the cameras will be waiting.
