“‘I TOLD HER, NOBODY DIES ON MY SHIFT…’ Nurse’s Emotional Claim After Rushing to 130-Foot Bungee Jump Tragedy as She Recounts the Desperate Fight and the Student’s Final Moments at the Scene! An off-duty nurse who rushed to the 130-foot bungee jump tragedy has shared a heartbreaking account of the desperate effort to save the 21-year-old student.

The staff had allegedly not attached the bungee cord to the victim before she leapt. The horrifying incident, captured on video, has since circulated widely on social media.

Nurse Rayza Dias, who was present at the scene, rushed to the crash site at the base of “Skeleton Bridge” where Rodrigues de Freitas was participating in an unlicensed bungee jump.

Describing the difficult rescue effort, the nurse claimed that she injured her hands as she tried to scramble down the muddy terrain and reach the victim at the base of the bridge.

“I scraped my whole hand because there’s a steep slope down there and only one rope for us to climb down,” Dias said, while speaking to Brazilian TV network Domingo Espetacular on Sunday.

“It was all covered in mud. I kept going down, down, we walked all the way,” the nurse said, adding that the student was alive when she reached her.

“I even talked to her. I have a habit of joking and saying, ‘Nobody dies on my shift.’ And I told her, ‘Duda [Eduarda], nobody dies on my shift.’ Even though I wasn’t on my shift there,” she said.

Three bungee jump operators were arrested and charged with homicide on Sunday. Authorities said two of the suspects attempted to flee following the student’s death and were later tracked down with the help of a military helicopter.

Another three people who worked at the allegedly illegal bungee jumping site were also detained for questioning but were subsequently released without charge.
