Bruce Springsteen has shared the positive news that his wife and E Street bandmate, Patti Scialfa, is now in remission from cancer.

Back in 2024, the E Street musician went public with her cancer battle, sharing, “I’ve been performing with this band for 40 years. With those first performances, it felt so good to be back onstage Touring has become a challenge for me. In 2018, well, Bruce and I were doing a play on Broadway. I was diagnosed with early-stage multiple myeloma.”
She added, “This affects my immune system so I just have to be careful what I choose to do and where I choose to go.”
Due to her battle with myeloma, Scialfa stepped away from touring with the E Street band in 2018, but now, thankfully, she is in remission.
Springsteen made the announcement on July 31st in a pre-recorded message he sent for the Pan-Mass Challenge, which is an annual fundraising event for cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Notably, Scialfa has been receiving treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, with Springsteen sharing, she “has been living with her multiple myeloma for over eight years, but now thankfully she is in remission”.
He emotionally added, “However, like millions of families facing cancer, we’ve learned what every patient learns, [that] hope has a face.”
Springsteen also gratefully paid thanks to the medical staff who have made her remission possible, continuing, “It’s our physician who refuses to stop searching and caring, [and] it’s our nurse who sits beside us when we’re scared and always makes our journey just a little bit easier.”
‘The Boss’ then explained that the last eight years have taught him “medical research isn’t an idea” and “isn’t politics”, noting from personal experience, “It isn’t a line in a budget. It’s the reason families find hope when hope seems hardest to find. When we lose sight of that, we lose sight of one another, and that’s too high a price for anyone to pay.”
Springsteen then stressed that his career has been about celebrating “the people who keep believing when life gives them every reason not to and for those who refuse to leave someone behind,” which he said has “always been the best of America to Patti and I.”
He passionately concluded, “Now, more than ever, the world needs more everyday heroes like the folks who make up the PMC.”
Springsteen and Scialfa have been bandmates since 1984, as well as husband and wife for 36 years. They share three children together.
