One answer ended the game… and even Jeremy Clarkson couldn’t resist a sly remark. A Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? contestant saw an impressive run come to a sudden halt after missing a question many viewers believed was surprisingly straightforward. The awkward moment quickly became one of the episode’s biggest talking points, with fans split between blaming the pressure of the hot seat and insisting it was a mistake they never expected to see.

A WHO Wants To Be A Millionaire player has been knocked out on an ‘easy’ question as Jeremy Clarkson made a sly dig – but would you know the answer?

The player sadly walked away with only £1,000 prize money after getting the answer wrong.

Arunan Jeyakumar was confused with the £500 question which asked: A ballcock is commonly found inside which of these?

The four possible answers were: “A) A lightbulb, B) Burglar alarm, C) Toilet cistern or D) Electric kettle.”

He used his ask the host lifeline and Jeremy, although surprised at being asked so soon, knew the answer was toilet cistern.

For his £1000 question, Arunan was again unsure and used his ask the audience lifeline which got him to his safety net.

His next question was about the Spice Girls; debut number 1 single but after being stumped again, he used his 50-50 lifeline and guessed correctly Wannabe.

Jeremey said: “Right, now we have established that you’re not brilliant on cooking vegetables and we have established you don’t know anything about plumbing.”

However, Arunan sailed through his next question which was dance based but then faced the £8,000 question.

Jeremy asked him: “Which of these is not a capital city?”

The four available answers were: A)Bratislava, B) Sofia, C) Istanbul or D) Warsaw.

A nervous Arunan replied: “B, it’s Sofia.”

“That’s the wrong answer,” said Jeremy before revealing the correct answer was C) Istanbul.

Jeremy then explained to a disappointed Arunan: “I think the basic problem is that you just don’t know very many things.”

Arunan laughed along with the audience and Jeremy added: “This maybe was the wrong show for you to be on. That’s what I’m thinking.

“But despite that, you are leaving with a thousand pounds.”
