One of the showrunners of Netflix’s biggest shows has confirmed that filming has begun on a brand new season and the update should make fans hopeful.
The Lincoln Lawyer returned to the platform with its fourth instalment earlier this year. It quickly became one of the most watched titles amongst subscribers and days before it even renewed, the streamer confirmed it had already green lit a fifth outing for Micky Haller and his team.
Now, series creator and co-showrunner Ted Humphrey has taken to his Instagram account to share an update with fans. He posted an image from set which shows a clapperboard, confirming production has officially begun in Los Angeles.
He captioned it: “We’ve just begun shooting Season 5 of #TheLincolnLawyer! And it’s going to fly by and land on @Netflix before you know it!” The clapperboard also confirms that Humphrey serves as a director on the first episode.

Website What’s On Netflix also attempted to decipher the rest of the information that could be hiding in plain sight. They note: I’m not an expert on clapper boards, but here’s what I think all the various numbers mean: 501 and 37D (Middle): The 501 indicates they are filming Season 5, Episode 1. The 37D means this is Scene 37, and the “D” indicates it is the fourth distinct camera setup or angle for that scene.
“2 (Top right): As indicated by the printed word below it, this is Take 2 of the shot. A27/C3 (in red on the top sticks) or 29: This indicates the current media cards (rolls) in the cameras. The “A” camera is on roll 27, and the “C” camera is on roll 3.”
Filming is expected to continue and be wrapped sometime in July this year. While no release date is confirmed, fans will be hopeful that there is a high chance the new season would land around early to mid March 2027. It means viewers will not have to wait longer than a year since season four.

For those unaware, The Lincoln Lawyer follows idealistic lawyer Mickey Haller who is known for working out of the back of his Lincoln Town Car, taking on cases big and small across Los Angeles. It is based on the series of novels written by Michael Connelly.
Season five will consist of the standard 10 episodes and will adapt Resurrection Walk, the acclaimed seventh novel in Connelly’s Lincoln Lawyer book series..
Fans responded to the latest production update saying largely the same thing. They could not wait until finally releases.
One person responded to the post saying: “I can’t wait… rewatching from the beginning for the second time this month! Can’t wait for the 5th season”
Another said: “Omg! Can’t waittttt.” While one person reasoned: “Ted, fly by is May 2026, not fall 2026 or 2027. Love the series, acting, characters, writing, directing, soundtrack!”
