In a heartfelt and emotional moment on Instagram, Craig Melvin has expressed his immense pride and support for his Today co-host, Sheinelle Jones, as she celebrates the release of her debut book, Through Mom’s Eyes. On April 14, Craig shared a personal tribute to Sheinelle, praising the dedication and wisdom she poured into the book.
“I could not be more proud of her,” Craig wrote, alongside a photo of him reading Sheinelle’s book. “She’s written a beautiful new chapter, and watching her pour her heart, wisdom, and light into these pages has been so special. She’s truly like a big sister to me, and I know this book is going to bless so many people, just like she blesses everyone around her. Please go support her and grab a copy. You’re going to love it.”

This debut work, released on April 14, is a collection of inspiring stories and lessons from the mothers of some of the world’s most remarkable figures, including Lady Gaga, Stephen Curry, the Williams sisters, and Matthew McConaughey. Originally conceived in 2020, the project was delayed due to the difficult battle Sheinelle’s late husband, Uche Ojeh, faced with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Uche tragically passed away in May 2025, at the age of 45, after 18 years of marriage and three children with Sheinelle.
Reflecting on her journey, Sheinelle shared, “I started this book thinking it would be a simple guide to what these women did right, and what they did wrong… and it is, but it turned out to be so much more. These women empowered me in ways that I didn’t even know I needed. I hope when women read it, whether they’re a mom, aunt, grandmother, teacher, or coach, they’ll be moved by the wisdom shared.”
On the same day, Sheinelle’s children surprised her on air during a segment of the Fourth Hour of the Today Show, marking the release of her book with heartfelt excitement.
