A surprising Final Jeopardy clue about rapper and television star Ice-T brought Shannon Leigh Godwin’s winning streak to an end during the October 28 episode of Jeopardy!

The interior designer from Oakland, California, entered her fourth game with an impressive three-day total of $40,602.

Godwin competed against endocrinologist Spencer Murphy of Menlo Park, California, and chemistry professor Stefanie Landeweer of Lexington Park, Maryland.

Murphy dominated much of the competition, correctly answering 22 clues and sweeping an entire category during Double Jeopardy.

Landeweer also delivered a strong performance, discovering both Daily Doubles in the round.

Despite those opportunities, she remained behind Murphy as the contestants prepared for the final clue.

The scores entering Final Jeopardy were:

  • Spencer Murphy: $19,200
  • Stefanie Landeweer: $13,400
  • Shannon Leigh Godwin: $5,000

With Godwin in third place, her hopes of securing a fourth consecutive victory depended on the final wagers and responses.

The Final Jeopardy category was Current TV Streaks, with a clue connecting a long-running television career to a 1993 rap album.

Host Ken Jennings presented the following:

“The longest-tenured male actor on a primetime show, he released the now ironically titled album Home Invasion back in 1993.”

The correct response was Ice-T, the rapper and actor who has portrayed Detective Odafin Tutuola on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit since the show’s second season.

Before becoming a television fixture, Ice-T established himself as a prominent hip-hop artist. Home Invasion, released in 1993, was his fifth studio album.

Godwin correctly identified Ice-T, as did Landeweer.

Murphy, however, answered Tim Allen.

That mistake dramatically changed the final standings.

Landeweer wagered $6,000 on her correct response, raising her total to $19,400.

Murphy lost $7,601 after his incorrect answer, dropping to $11,599.

Godwin also answered correctly, but her final score was not enough to catch Landeweer.

The returning champion finished with $10,600, ending her three-game winning streak.

Landeweer claimed victory with $19,400 and earned the opportunity to return for her second game on October 29.

The Ice-T clue also generated discussion among viewers online.

Jeopardy! fans 'annoyed' about category highlighting influencers and call it a 'waste of time' after several stumpers

“I just love the idea that this guy is the longest-tenured prime-time TV male actor. 30 years ago, even he would have laughed at that,” one Reddit commenter wrote.

Another viewer recognized the answer immediately, referencing the familiar Law & Order sound effect with a simple “Dun-dun.”

Although Godwin’s run ended before she could reach five victories, she leaves the competition with $40,602 in total winnings.

Meanwhile, Landeweer begins her own championship streak after a memorable comeback victory.
