The Night They Vanished: New Channel 4 Romantic Thriller Unveils Its Cast
A chilling discovery turns a woman’s past into a race against time in The Night They Vanished, a new six-part romantic thriller now filming in Wales for Channel 4.
Based on Vanessa Savage’s novel of the same name, the drama brings together The Guest and Black Doves star Gabrielle Creevy with It’s a Sin actor Callum Scott Howells. The series combines a mysterious disappearance, family secrets and a dangerous love story, with Anna forced to question who she can trust as the clock continues to run down.

Gabrielle Creevy Leads the Mystery
Creevy plays Anna, a sharp-witted and fiercely protective woman who has built a new life for herself in Cardiff, far from the home she left behind.
That sense of stability is shattered when Anna discovers her childhood house listed on a true-crime website as the location where her family is predicted to die.
The discovery is disturbing enough. Then Anna learns that her family has disappeared.
The website is run by Cai, played by Callum Scott Howells. The pair meet on a blind date, making the revelation even more complicated. Cai insists that he did not publish the ominous listing, while police dismiss the entire thing as a hoax.
But with Anna’s family missing, the warning becomes increasingly difficult to ignore.
Anna is eventually forced to return to her hometown, a remote, windswept coastal village in South Wales, where the past she tried to escape begins resurfacing in terrifying ways.
A Romance Wrapped in a Dark Conspiracy
While The Night They Vanished is built around a disappearance and a disturbing true-crime prediction, its story also places Anna and Cai at the heart of an uneasy romantic connection.
Cai is presented as charming and complicated, but there is always the question of whether he can actually be trusted.

Howells described the character as someone who “never quite” appears to be what he seems, leaving open the possibility that Cai could become either Anna’s great love or someone connected to the terrifying conspiracy surrounding her family.
Creevy similarly described Anna as loyal and resilient but carrying more pain than she allows others to see. As her past suddenly catches up with her, she finds herself trapped in a nightmare she believed she had left behind.
Full Cast Revealed

Joining Creevy and Howells are Tamzin Outhwaite as Jo, Anna’s stepmother, and Steffan Rhodri as Idris, Anna’s father, who may possess crucial information about what is really happening.
The additional cast includes Matthew Gravelle, Lisa Victoria, Jack Quick, Andrew Lennon, Callum Hymers and Bella Shewan.
The series has been adapted for television by Angharad Elen and Hannah Daniel from Savage’s novel. Elen, who is Welsh, said she was particularly proud to see the story set and filmed in Wales and highlighted the opportunity to showcase creative talent from the region.
Filming Is Underway in Wales
The Night They Vanished is being produced by CliffEdge Entertainment, part of BBC Studios, in association with Channel 4, with support from the Welsh Government through Creative Wales.
The six-part series consists of six 48-minute episodes. Geraint Todd is directing, while Sian Elen John serves as series producer. Executive producers are Sarah Creasey, Deborah Sathe, Angharad Elen and Branwen Williams for BBC Studios.

Channel 4 has already acquired the series for UK broadcast, while BBC Studios is handling global sales. Filming is currently underway in Wales.
A specific Channel 4 premiere date has not yet been announced.
For now, the premise leaves one central question hanging over the series: if Anna’s family has vanished and the website predicted their deaths, who put the warning online — and why?
