BBC The Night Manager gets major season 3 update as star speaks out
The Night Manager is set to return for a third season on BBC, and Tom Hiddleston has teased what’s to come for his character Jonathan Pine.

The Night Manager fans should prepare to get excited, as a star has teased an “exciting” update. Dropping a rare hint about what’s to come, star Tom Hiddleston has spoken out ahead of filming. Eight years after the gripping BBC drama first premiered, The Night Manager made its comeback with a second series in January, and a third chapter is now in development.
Adapted from the novels of John Le Carre, The Night Manager features Loki star Tom as MI6 operative Jonathan Pine, as he attempts to uncover a conspiracy aimed at undermining the nation. However, he must battle betrayal and twists at every corner, as he questions who he can trust and how far he can go. After a near-decade-long wait, The Night Manager season two saw Pine suffer a devastating defeat after discovering his adversary Richard Roper (played by Hugh Laurie) was still alive. Tom has now hinted at what lies ahead.

His character was left bleeding, while Roper’s son (portrayed by Diego Calva) and Angela Burr (Olivia Colman) met their deaths.
“I can tell you it’s coming along,” he revealed to RadioTimes.com. “It’s one of the most profound and significant pieces of work in my acting life.
“I’m so grateful to The Ink Factory for including me in the journey of generating the material now as we imagine how to develop the story further.”
He acknowledged Pine was amongst his favourite roles to have portrayed, noting that conversations about series three “are very alive right now”.

He continued to say they’re “very connected to the conversation about our lives right now and the direction of travel in the UK.
“As we know from the ending of season 2, Johnathan Pine finds himself in a tight spot… wait and see, it’s exciting stuff.”
This comes after show creator David Farr revealed: “Right now, I feel the deep weight of doom of stress about it because I’m the one who has to actually do the writing of the damn thing.
“It’s a huge challenge. It’ll be very exciting.”
He added: “And it won’t take as long as the last one, I promise.”

He went on to say the third instalment will address the second season’s dark, concerning ending, which “was important to us all because the world is a tough place at the moment, and it didn’t feel right not to reflect that”.
He added: “But of course, all of us want to see justice, redemption and we want to see something change, so I feel like season three, there is actually a deep emotional and moral imperative to honour that.”
