Savannah Guthrie is reportedly becoming “emotional between commercial breaks” at the Today show while her mother remains missing.

Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, 84, was taken from her Tucson, Arizona, residence on February 1 and hasn’t been located since. Although surveillance footage captured a possible suspect at her property, authorities have made no arrests or filed charges related to her disappearance.

Following Nancy’s abduction, Guthrie, 54, took time off from her co-hosting duties on NBC’s Today Show, where she’s been a fixture for over ten years. After a 64-day absence, the broadcasting veteran resumed her position and has continued working.

While Guthrie has maintained her composure during broadcasts on the popular morning program, an insider revealed she becomes “emotional between commercial breaks.”

The source told Page Six, “Sometimes a fan will say something sweet to her, whether that is a guest or a sign from a fan outside that makes her feel touched.” The unnamed individual noted that “it’s to be expected,” though emphasized that Guthrie doesn’t experience these moments during every broadcast, reports the Irish Star.

An additional source informed the outlet that Guthrie’s colleagues admire her “strength and bravery,” stating, “It’s never going to be ‘business as usual’ for her, but it’s important to her to put one foot in front of the other and keep going.” Long-time friend Jenna Bush Hager has also been praised for her unwavering support of Savannah. The 44 year old television personality has been described as a “source of comfort” to the star, with an insider noting, “She leans on Jenna a lot.”

This comes as Savannah marked her first Mother’s Day since her 84 year old mom was kidnapped. Taking to social media, Savannah posted a heartfelt compilation featuring her beloved mother to her Instagram Story, writing, “Mother, daughter, sister, Nonie – we miss you with our every breath. We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you.”

She also reminded followers that the reward money, currently standing at $1.1 million, remains available for anyone with information that could lead to Nancy’s recovery. Additionally, on Monday, May 11, Savannah announced she will host a new Wordle game show alongside executive producer Jimmy Fallon.

Jimmy appeared thrilled about Savannah joining him on the project, enthusing, “I’m so happy it’s you – we were looking for the perfect host for this. We needed someone who looks like they play Wordle, someone who knows how to run a show. We did the pilot, and you were amazing.”

Savannah revealed that Wordle was one of her mother’s favorite pastimes, sharing with the New York Times: “It’s strange to get up and do the Today show every day, and it’s strange to say that I’m going to do a game show when your heart is broken. Nothing about that has changed, and it’s not easy. But I’m determined to put one foot in front of the other. And this is a joyous thing.”
