Meghan Markle’s Old School-Run Claim Faces Fresh Challenge After Return to Britain

For years, Meghan Markle warned that taking her children to school in Britain would leave her exposed to relentless attention from photographers.

Now, after returning to the UK with Prince Harry and their two children, that argument is facing an awkward reality check.

The Duchess of Sussex previously suggested that a normal school drop-off or pick-up would be virtually impossible because of the media attention she expected to attract.

But the experiences of other senior royals — including Princess Catherine — paint a very different picture.

Meghan and Harry moved back to Britain last week with Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, as they begin settling into a new chapter on Harry’s home soil.

The move comes after years of Meghan being openly critical of aspects of life in the UK following the couple’s departure for California in 2020.

Among the issues she raised was the prospect of trying to carry out the school run while living under intense public scrutiny.

Despite that, the return to Britain has reportedly not removed Meghan’s concerns.

According to The Sun, a source close to the couple said the school run remains a particularly sensitive issue because having predictable drop-off and collection times could create additional security risks.

“The school run is a tricky issue and I understand they are nervous about it,” the source reportedly said.

That concern is rather different from Meghan’s earlier suggestion that the main problem would be photographers waiting to capture her every school journey.

Security, rather than simply press intrusion, is now being presented as the central difficulty.

A very different reality awaits

Meghan’s return to Britain therefore places her in a curious position.

The very scenario she once warned would make ordinary school life impossible is now something she and Harry must navigate as they settle their children into life in the UK.

And the example set by William and Catherine suggests that a royal school run does not necessarily have to become a daily media event.

Whether Meghan and Harry ultimately adopt a similar routine remains to be seen.
