BBC Granite Harbour favourite says ‘my time is up’ as devastating exit ‘sealed’

It looks as though a sad exit could be on the way for DCI Cora Macmillan (Dawn Steele) in the BBC’s Granite Harbour. As the Scottish crime-drama began this month, viewers saw DS Lara ‘Bart’ Bartlett (Hannah Donaldson) and DC Davis Lindo (Romario Simpson) tasked with solving another complex murder.

While the investigation continues, as another body was found during their case, the team are dealing with their own personal issues. In Friday’s episode (July 31), DCI Macmillan was seen at a test centre for cancer patients.

As Lindo confessed he saw an email from the centre for his boss, aware it was a cancer facility, Cora was reeling that he had been looking into her personal life.

However, later on, he implored her to tell Chief Constable Alan Willis (John Gordon Sinclair), who is currently investigating Cora and the team because of the fallout from a previous high-profile case in series two.

After a meeting later in the episode, DC Davis Lindo stopped DCI Cora Macmillan from leaving to have a private chat about the phone call she received earlier that day, confessing he knew it looked like bad news.

Although he admitted it was none of his business, he stated that she needed to tell Willis about what was going on.

Sitting down, she replied: “You are a good detective. My mother passed away from breast cancer when I was 11 years old. When I found the lump, I knew what it was before I even had the scan yesterday.”

Apologising for what she was going through, Lindo asked if she was alright as his boss asked if they could keep this news just between them.

He replied: “Look, you have to tell Willis. They’re trying to make you a scapegoat for the Stolthet case. If you tell them you’re sick-”

However, Cora was adamant that she didn’t want that to happen, not wanting to use her health as a shield.

She added: “If he wants me out, then I will go. I mean, maybe that’s the right thing considering what I did with Rose.

“I’ve given my life to this job, and this is how he repays me? If this has taught me anything, it’s that time it too precious.

“Willis just doesn’t want a fuss, so if I demand my pension and I go quietly, then I think he’ll be happy. My time in the force is up, Lindo.”
