Princess Eugenie Reveals Baby Daughter’s Name Two Weeks After Birth — And Its Royal Meaning Runs Deep
After keeping the announcement private for 14 days, Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank have finally revealed the name of their newborn daughter — and the choice carries a heartfelt connection to royal history.
The couple announced that their baby girl is named Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank, joining her older brothers August, 5, and Ernest, 3.
The announcement came alongside three intimate photographs shared by Eugenie, including a sweet image of the newborn wrapped in a light blue blanket, a close-up of her tiny hand, and a touching moment showing her brothers meeting their baby sister for the first time.
Eugenie revealed that she personally took the photographs, sharing an emotional message about the family’s first two weeks together.
“Two weeks ago today we welcomed our girl to the world. And since then we’ve had the most special, cosy and love-filled time,” she wrote.
She added that August and Ernest were already “the best big brothers.”

The name Adelaide combines personal family connections with links to both English and Portuguese history — two places that hold special significance for Eugenie and Jack.

Eugenie and Jack first announced their daughter’s arrival on August 4, but intentionally chose not to share her name immediately.
The couple wanted time to select the right name before making it public.
The two-week wait follows a similar approach seen in other royal families. Eugenie and Jack previously waited 11 days before announcing the full name of their first son, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, in 2021.
Their second son, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, had his full name revealed much sooner in 2023.
Princess Beatrice has also taken time before sharing her daughters’ names. She and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi announced Sienna Elizabeth 13 days after her birth in 2021, while their daughter Athena Elizabeth Rose was announced one week after arriving.

Adelaide is also 15th in line to the British throne.

Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, in 2018, with Queen Elizabeth II and other members of the Royal Family attending.
