One year ago, Beni was a tiny baby watching Lauren Alaina from the side of the stage. Now, she’s walking across it hand in hand with her mom. During “Doin’ Fine” in Illinois, Lauren brought her 1-year-old daughter onstage, knelt down to sing directly to her, then scooped her into her arms to finish the song. Beni even reached for the microphone, making Lauren laugh, “This is for mommy.” From being carried on the road as a newborn to taking her own little steps beside Mom — it was a beautiful reminder of just how quickly those tiny years pass.

Lauren Alaina’s recent performance in Galva, Illinois, turned into a memorable family moment when her 1-year-old daughter, Beni Doll, left her spot at the side of the stage and joined her mom in front of the crowd.

The sweet mother-daughter appearance happened during Alaina’s set at the Backroads Music Festival, where Beni had spent much of the show watching alongside her grandmother. Dressed in an adorable pink outfit with matching pink headphones, the little girl could be seen dancing while her mom performed.

Eventually, Alaina couldn’t resist bringing her daughter into the spotlight.

While performing “Doin’ Fine,” from her 2017 album Road Less Traveled, Alaina went over to get Beni and brought her onto the stage.

Holding her daughter’s hand as they walked together, the country singer introduced her to the audience.

“Everybody say hello to my little girl,” Alaina said.

Alaina continued singing without missing a beat as Beni smiled toward the crowd. At one point, the singer crouched down to her daughter’s level and sang directly to her while Beni gently swayed along with the music.

Rather than rushing the little girl through the appearance, Alaina let Beni lead the way as they made their way across the stage. She eventually picked her daughter up and held her in her arms while finishing the performance.

Beni also appeared interested in another important part of her mom’s job: the microphone.

When she grabbed it from Alaina, the singer laughed and reminded her, “This is for mommy.”

For fans who have watched Alaina’s journey into motherhood, the appearance carried extra meaning.

Alaina and her husband, Cam Arnold, welcomed their first child on June 11, a little more than a year before the Galva performance. Around 12 weeks after Beni’s birth, Alaina returned to the road for a performance in Evans, Georgia, in late August — and brought her newborn daughter along.

The contrast between those two moments showed just how much had changed in a year. Last summer, Beni was still a tiny baby watching her mother perform. Now, she was able to walk hand in hand with Alaina across the stage, dance to the music and even make a playful attempt at taking over the microphone.

Her comfortable reaction to the crowd also suggested that being onstage alongside her mom didn’t intimidate her.

The family moment comes as Alaina prepares for another busy stretch on the road.

This fall, she will launch The Stages Tour, with performances scheduled throughout October and November in Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa and other locations.

The shows will give Alaina an opportunity to perform material from her upcoming fourth studio album, Stages, which is scheduled to arrive August 28 through Big Loud Records.

“These songs hold so many chapters of my life, and I’m so excited to finally bring them to the stage and share them with y’all each night. Plus, I get to share the stage with some incredible artists and friends who are in such exciting stages of their own careers. See y’all out there,” Alaina wrote when announcing the tour.
